Why I chose Lees-McRae...

I chose Lees-McRae because it checked all my boxes. The environment is beautiful, and it feels like home. I definitely prefer a smaller campus and smaller classroom sizes. And I loved meeting the volleyball team and was eager to play here.

My advice to students searching for a college...

The goal is to find your perfect fit. I created a list of what I wanted in a college and searched for schools until I found one that checked all my boxes. The academics, class sizes, athletics, social life, and community were some of the things I paid close attention to when exploring colleges.

Favorite thing to do in the area...

I love doing anything anywhere outdoors here. Just walking through town, the greenway, or the bountiful hiking trails. Throughout all four seasons, I want to be outside and enjoy the nature. In the heart of winter, I love to go out with my friends and sled on campus or even go snowboarding or tubing. Then Wildcat Lake is so pretty during the warmer weather, and I love going out there to just sit, do homework, or play sand volleyball or spike ball.

Most memorable Lees-McRae experience...

I have seen the most snow in my life here. I live in Charlotte NC, and just two and a half hours away in Banner Elk is where I experienced the most snow. I made my first real snow man standing a little over six feet tall, created my first snowball fight forts and had a real snowball fight, and took the most gorgeous walk through the greenway, across the street from campus. Definitely my most memorable Lees-McRae experience and something that I will remember for the rest of my life.
